This may be old news to some, but to those who are not aware of this it is very important news.
There were many horses that were administered microchips during EI by veterinarians in conjunction with the DPI. The vets completed extensive identification information which was returned to the DPI and which owners will have a copy of.
Unfortunately this paperwork has not found its way to a national register. So, all these horses' microchip numbers cannot be traced back to the owner.
Your horse's microchip is only as useful as the information held by the relevant registries, so please ensure you update this information if you are moving, or if your horse is going to a new owner ensure that this person is listed instead. Some Australian ones include:
