Dave graduated from Murdoch University, Western Australia, in 1980, with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and a Bachelor of Science. He has successfully treated all species and managed practices throughout the majority of Australia. He established VEVS in August 2002, seeking to specifically work with the equine community of South East Queensland.
David has a special interest in equine dentistry and reproduction and small animal surgery. David has now passed his entrance exams to gain membership in the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Dentistry. Through his hard-work and extensive expertise David was awarded the prestigious position of a Churchill Fellowship in the area of Equine Dentistry. In 2011, as part of his award, David travelled to America and the United Kingdom to study with the world's finest practitioners of equine dentistry, further cementing his knowledge and experience in this field.
In his (very limited) spare time, David loves to take a ride on his motorcycle, have a drop of red, and hit the snowy slopes for some fast-paced skiing action. David would love to get back in the saddle at some point in the near future, if our busy practice would permit it!
Dr Colleen Buckley
Senior Mixed Veterinarian
*Photo shows Colleen with one of her gorgeous patients
Colleen began her veterinary career in 1990 after graduating from the University of Queensland. Since then she has worked in practices ranging over Australia, as well as England. For many years Colleen worked in and owned her very own mixed-species practice. She is currently a member of the Animal Ethics Committee in Pig Nutrition. Her extensive experience and knowledge over a range of species are an excellent asset for our practice.
When Colleen isn't treating animals or advising in the committee, you may find her spending time with her special family (including her husband and two young children). Her animal family currently consists of a dog, cat, horse, pet bird, ducks, and chickens. So as you can probably guess, she has personal experience with many of the cherished animals you may bring in for her to examine.
Dr Nicole Frohlich
Nicole graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2014 and has spent one year running a busy SPCA small animal practice in South Africa. ‘I love working with both small animals and horses and always aim to provide your pets with the best care possible starting with preventative medicine.
I recently moved to Queensland with my boyfriend Matthew (also a vet) to gain a bit more experience in equine practice. I have been riding since the age of eight and competed in Showjumping and Equitation up until I started University. I have two now retired horses in South Africa, Brave and Laura. Brave is as fiery as they come and has taught me so much with regards to horsemanship and training.
I grew up on a small farm and have had pets ranging from dogs and cats to pigs, goats, guinea pigs and chickens. We currently have 3 dogs, Danny, Mishka and Mila who are very spoilt fur children and will hopefully be flying over from South Africa in a few months.
Matthew and I love the outdoors and do a lot of hiking, camping, mountain bike riding and rock climbing.
