She has actually been heavily involved with the thoroughbred industry for 38 years, as a stable foreman and through other management positions. Chelsie NankervisPractice Manager, Qualified Veterinary Nurse Chelsie has joined the Hoof n Paws team as a qualified veterinary nurse who started her nursing career in 2012 after completing Equine Science at the University of Queensland. After working with large animals for many years she decided to broaden her knowledge of animals and complete her certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing whilst working in a number of small animal clinics before following her love for horses back to working in mixed practice. Chelsie has a Golden Retriever named Scout who is full of personality and loves going to the beach. Chelsie has a special interest in surgical and medical nursing, ensuring that all patients that visit the clinic are happy and comfortable while away from their families. |
Dr Alana SimpsonVeterinarian Dr Alana graduated from the University of QLD in 2010 and has joined our team as a regular locum. While her passion is endurance in her free time, she focuses on small animal medicine and surgery in the clinic. Along with her two speedy endurance horses Dr Alana has two Jack Russell Terriers ‘Maple’ and ‘Poppy’ and a Hungarian Vizsla named ‘Maggie’ as well as countless chickens. |
Dr Claire RobinsonVeterinarian Dr Claire graduated from the University of Queensland in 2021, once she graduated she jumped straight in to full-time veterinary work. Dr Claire loves the surgical aspect in the veterinary field and performs all kinds of surgery on small animals as well as the large farm animals. Besides the cats and dogs, Dr Claire loves to see Equine’s and Ruminants! At home Dr Claire has a rescue cat called “Bagheera” who always likes a cuddle once Dr Claire is home. Originating from the Gold Coast Dr Claire loves to spend her very minimal spare time exploring the Scenic Rim. Dr Claire is unsure where her Veterinarian career will take her but her mind reminds open to all the possibilities! At the end of the day there is nothing Dr Claire can’t do. |
Desrae Gant QVN Dip PMBusiness Consultant, Qualified Veterinary Nurse Desrae has been Veterinary Nursing for 30 years , she has Diploma's in Practice Management, Train the Trainee, Workplace Assessor, Herbal Medicine Equine, Emmett Practioner (Muscle Release) Equine and Canine. She is currently completing her studies in Trigger Point Therapy. Desrae joined our team in April 2016 in the role of business and staff development. She has a holistic approach to Animal Care and aims to assist the team in personal and professional development so we can continue to look after our clients and pets. In previous years Desrae had enjoyed competing paint horses in the discipline of Western and English events, at a National Level and also winning International Awards. |
Georgia HentschelQualified Senior Veterinary Nurse Before coming to work at Hoof n Paws and Veresdale Equine Vets Georgia worked in the Redlands and inner CBD before moving back to her hometown of Jimboomba to live her vet nurse dream of working with equine and farm animals. At home Georgia has a red stumpy tail Australian Smithfield Cattle Dog named ‘Blue’ that likes to empty Georgia’s pockets. Georgia also has a Tortoiseshell cat named ‘Calypso’ that comes with all the “naughty tortie” attitude! Georgia also has 3 Guinea Pigs that give Georgia nothing but love. Georgia also runs our Puppy Preschool program and enjoys assisting owners with puppy knowledge and training. |
Emma Pearse QVNQualified Veterinary Nurse Emma has always loved animals and grew up amongst dogs and cats. She got her first horse at 12 and enjoyed gymkanas, one day eventing and endurance. Emma was a competitve swimmer at State level and stays active by playing indoor and outdoor soccer (and has done so for 10 years!). Emma has prior experience in offices, equestrian centres and equine training facilities. She currently has 2 cats "Dusty" and "Moo", also she has 2 dogs "Jack" and "Mitch" |
Mikayla DempseyQualified Cert II Animal Studies Mikki commenced work experience through her school with us last year. You will often see her smiling face some afternoons and on Saturday mornings. She is currently attending Hills College in Jimboomba, and has a keen interest in becoming a veterinary nurse once she graduates year 12. As well as doing her days with us, she is also currently studying a diploma in childcare, and has her first aid certificate. Mikki has a keen interest in horse riding, dog training, barrel racing, and loves spending any spare moment she has with animals. When she isn't doing all those things, she enjoys bush walking, swimming, and camping. She has an older brother and a twin sister, and has always had animals as part of her family life. At home she has Flicka the border collie, Dynamite the Arabian, Willow the German Shepherd, Bambi the Brahman, Shantilly the Thoroughbred, and Pirate the one eyed Princess Parrot. |
Sahara LaulauStudying Cert IV Veterinary Nursing Sahara has joined the Hoof n Paws team as a trainee nurse; Sahara has successfully completed her Certificate II in Animal Studies and now looks towards obtaining her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. With an abundance of animals at home, including Danny the Beagle, Cookie the Minx cat and 8 chickens, it is no wonder Sahara was destined to work in the animal industry. In her down time Sahara enjoys playing the drums, reading and spending quality time with friends and family. |
