Our ultrasound machine reads the different densities of tissues. It cannot see through air, solid material (such as bone), or faecal matter.
Ultrasounding tissues enables us to see the changes in the quality of tissue, water content, size, density, and integrity. We'll be able to see blood, scar tissue and inflammatory cells &/or fluid, all of which may lead us to more precise diagnosis, and therefore a more effective course of treatment. If required, the vet may compare the affected tissue with a non-affected site.
